In 1984-96 Corvettes the factory provided an ashtray insert and console cup mat in the center console. While the factory calls it a mat, most people call it a console drink liner or console cup holder. Regardless what you call it, it is meant to hold cups or drinks and to keep sweat from those beverages from running into the console where it doesn’t belong. Often these are oddly missing and if you don’t smoke you can remove the ashtray insert and add an additional mat/liner so that you can have two positions for drinks and added convenience.
